State of Texas Approved Parent Taught & Online Teen Course Drivers License Education

You have 4 months to fully complete both parts of the online course.

Online Driver’s Ed Course: This full course meets all state requirements for Driver’s Education. It includes all of the class work, drive times, and the real DPS permit test online. With this course you will not need to fill out any parent logs. Parents will sign a certificate (as the instructor) to obtain the student’s permit and after completing the course will affirm that the student completed all aspects of the course before obtaining the student license.

I understand that choosing the Parent Taught Course requires I designate a qualified instructor who is at least 25 years old, and has held a driver’s license for at least three years. This teacher will also have a clean driving record free of major violations, felonies, or convictions. Having a small traffic ticket is okay. An example of an eligible instructor could be your parent, grandparent, or legal guardian. To take the Parent Taught course and identify who your instructor will be you must register at the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) page  https://www.tdlr.gov./ParentTaught/PTSelect.aspx.
